school forms, administrators, Toronto District School Board, multi-parent family
Mohan: The – if there’s an area where the TDSB needs to improve things, it’s that they have two boxes on their forms for parents. Um, so, um we had to do some massaging of these pre-printed forms and make things clear to the administrators, uh, but after that first day of making things clear, they got it. They understood. But I wondered, like, these forms are completed and at school, they got to, I’m assuming, the board, um, and how the board and their computerized systems, is there a spot for entering in more than one – more than two parents? So I don’t know the answer to that but, yah, that is an area where I think that, at least the TDSB could probably improve.
Kevin: I would completely agree with that. And I was amazed by how many forms need to be filled out, like, manually. The school board, maybe TDSB is not alone in this but there are lots of forms to fill, and not only at the beginning of JK, but at the beginning of every year, and I kind of hoped that when we had to fill out some of those same forms again in September, that there would have been a change, and there isn’t. We had to make special boxes and special lines to be a three-parent family. And we didn’t get push back about that at the local school because they are so supportive, but I would agree with you, Mohan, I think it says something about the broader board. That they’re not yet there, about thinking that way.
