library, library books, alternative families, two dads, Father’s Day, inclusivity
Kevin: I’ll just start by saying, in the library I was fascinated last year, when I volunteered every Monday morning, they had a corner in their library on alternative families. So they have A Tale of Two Daddies, and, um, the Todd Parr books. And, they have a little corner, I mean not huge, but it’s the same books that we have at home. And the school owns them and puts them in a specific place in the library, which I thought was really encouraging.
Mohan: They also, um, on Father’s Day, they, uh, the kids – the teachers would invite the kids, and I think I heard this from our kids, on of them said, “one of you make a card for your papa, and one of you make a card for your daddy”. So there’s – there’s – they don’t treat us differently because we’re two dads.
